About Me

Intro

I have always been creative, it's in my DNA.
I majored in art at the High School of Music and Art in New York City and at New York University.  Although I never practiced as a professional artist, I've always applied my craft, mainly for pleasure and seemingly, pleasure of others.

There is also another Nancy Hom, the graphic artist who also resides in San Francisco.  I am not she; have often gotten her phone calls and with this web site, am sure that I will be again confused with her.  She is a very good graphic artist in her own right, you will need to do a little more digging to contact her directly.

Back to the Art...

My studioI like to tell stories through my art.  In my paintings, I work in oils and mixed media.  First, I start off with a collage of images, some from photos, magazines pages, family images, etc., and I create a story.  I then paint from my collage.  The paintings I've done are varied from telling a true events to the imagined story or theme.  For example, read about how I put together the theme for "My Brother's Fathers"...more

My photography is varied as well.  I enjoy taking pictures of people and places.  The images on this site were taken mainly for my own use.  Some were taken on 35mm, others digitally.   I am also beginning to experiment more with digital photographs.

As for my day job...

And yes, I have a day job, which is a marketing and media consultant at the Hom Team, where I am the main person.  We are a team of minority and women independent consultants with a wealth of skills and depth of knowledge, ready, able and willing to help businesses find solutions.  You can visit us at www.homteam.com.
