This is a painted from a collage, and tells the story of a woman waiting for the return of her matador and lover. She knows that it is a dangerous profession and passion of his. What she doesn't know is that he will not be returning, as the image of his face is in black and white whereas she and the moment right up to his death is in color. The timelessness of this sport is juxtaposed to the realities of the modern world. This painting is now the property of the Martes' of Montclair, CA. Reclining nude, done in four brush strokes. This painting is of two of the Martes girls, Gabriela and Claudia, both asleep. The painting is done mainly with oil, and there is an inner frame of wall paper taken from their childhood bedroom, which now no longer exists. This painting is from a collage of images that tells the history of the men in my family. My brother is in the center, his "fathers" includes my great grandfather, grandfather, and father. The Chinese calligraphy in the background is from an image taken at Angel Island where my family had to pass through. Poetry was carved into the barracks where immigrants were detained for months before allowed formal entry into the United States. Painting of D. Amar's eldest daughter, from original photograph. Collage painting commissioned by Tracy Winchester, Denver. This is a painting about my dear friends Tracy and Cameron, finding each other through history, passions, and destiny. This painting is of my friends Jacqueline and Patrice and now hangs in their Biarritz, France home.
